We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Netflix users don’t care about reviews. And why should they?
After all, if you’ve already paid for a subscription, every title is free to watch and all you’re risking is losing a few hours of your time. Which is perhaps why so many people have decided to check out The Weekend Away, making it the platform’s #1 movie in the world this weekend despite its terrible Rotten Tomatoes score of 53%.
Plot wise, it follows a woman who must figure out what happened when “her best friend vanishes during a girls trip to Croatia.” While the flick is mildly entertaining and not a terrible way to kill some time, it’s not exactly memorable and is unlikely to stick in your mind for long.
Still, Netflix users are more than happy to give it a shot and it’ll be interesting to see how long it hands around the most-watched list for.
