Following a very strong showing in theaters, both critically and commercially, The Batman is now crushing it on HBO Max. Not that that should come as a surprise, given what a big hit it was, but it’s still nice to see it doing so well.
In fact, it’s “beaten the record for first week Smart TV U.S. viewership compared to other Warner Bros. and HBO Max films, having garnered 4.1 million total.” For comparison’s sake, it’s right at the top when it comes to DC pics, as The Suicide Squad came in at 3.5 million and Wonder Woman 1984 did 3.2 million. Meanwhile, Matrix Resurrections recorded 3.2 million and Dune 2.3 million.
Only Mortal Kombat at 4.3 million has The Batman beat, meaning the reboot now has the “second-highest first week viewership for a theatrical film on HBO Max.” Impressive indeed.
