Time and time again we’ve seen movies perform very well on Netflix despite being trashed by critics, and now it’s happening again.
In this instance, it’s Persuasion, starring Dakota Johnson and Henry Golding. You’ve got 2 popular actors in the lead roles, but unfortunately, this romantic drama is a frustrating adaptation of the Jane Austen novel. With a 34% on Rotten Tomatoes, it could be worse, but so far it doesn’t seem like reviewers are taking to the new flick.
“Forgettable,” “misguided” and a “real yawn of a movie” are just some of the things being said about it. But over on Netflix it’s the #1 most-watched film in the world, proving that subscribers simply do not care about what critics have to say when it comes to streaming.
