Hugh Jackman’s a great actor who’s made a ton of really great movies, but as with almost every big name in Hollywood, he’s also put out a few stinkers, too, including Pan.
The live-action prequel to Peter and Wendy from Scottish author J.M. Barrie features Jackman as Blackbeard alongside a cast that also includes Levi Miller as Peter Pan, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily and Garrett Hedlund as James Hook. And while it wasn’t a total disaster, Joe Wright’s fantasy adventure flick certainly didn’t perform as expected.
Holding a disappointing 26% on Rotten Tomatoes, critics called it “generic,” “low on substance” “exhausting” and “incomprehensible.” But over on Netflix, that doesn’t seem to be deterring subscribers, as Pan is currently #10 on the Top 10 most-watched movies list in the US, and could creep up even higher in the days to come.
