After watching tick, tick… BOOM! this weekend, the one question on everyone’s mind – aside from where will Andrew Garfield put his Oscar – is: was the actor really singing in the film? The answer is yes, and not only was that his real voice, but he learnt to sing just for this role.
“Andrew really threw himself in with such gusto,” writer Steven Levenson said. “We just watched a singer being born. It was pretty uncanny. He’s so talented.”
tick, tick… BOOM! is now streaming on Netflix and features a career-best performance from Andrew Garfield, who plays composer and playwright Jonathan Larson.
