The upcoming Marvel movie, Captain America: Brave New World, is generating a lot of excitement, especially about how Sam Wilson, who doesn’t have the super-soldier serum, will face tough enemies like Red Hulk. Some promotional materials and interviews with Anthony Mackie, who plays Wilson, gave an update on how Sam does this.
The film’s advertising hints that Sam Wilson’s new suit uses technology from Wakanda, much like Black Panther’s suit. This technology seems to absorb kinetic energy, helping the suit reduce the force of strong hits like those from Red Hulk. In some brief clips, Wilson’s wings glow with purple energy while he takes hits, showing off this new feature. This upgrade is a big step up from his old gear, which didn’t have these abilities.
Mackie suggests that Wilson focuses on using smart strategies and technology instead of just relying on physical strength in combat. However, having a suit of armor really helps when he needs to be as tough as the original Captain America serum. His experience as a counselor plays a role in shaping his tactics, showing that his intelligence and ability to think quickly are important for beating stronger opponents.

Mackie said, “It’s very different with the serum – you can fight anybody. When you don’t have the serum, you have to be smart and engineer different ways of defeating [enemies].”
The story of the film will focus on Wilson facing off against Red Hulk, played by Harrison Ford in his first role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as the Leader, a villain who has appeared in earlier MCU movies. The conflict with Red Hulk arises from an international incident that happens after a meeting with the new President Ross, who has turned into Red Hulk.
The upcoming film aims to continue the Captain America series by featuring a more down-to-earth, spy-themed action style than previous movies. Directed by Julius Onah, the film is set to be released on February 14, 2025. The supporting cast includes Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson.
