Fans of Squid Game Season 2 are speculating about a possible father-son connection between the Front Man (In-ho) and the Old Man (Oh Il-nam) from Season 1.
One interesting detail is that both characters can’t drink regular milk. In Season 1, Oh Il-nam, known as Player 001, notices Player 456’s lactose intolerance and mentions it’s like his son’s. This idea comes up again in Season 2 when the Front Man, pretending to be Young-il, gives milk to another player with the same intolerance. This has led viewers to think they might be related.
The theory gets stronger because the Front Man is near Oh Il-nam during his last moments in Season 1. The Front Man is there when Oh Il-nam confesses to Player 456, which hints at a close connection. In Season 2, we learn about the Front Man’s past as a police officer who lost his wife and job, which might explain why Oh Il-nam influenced him. It’s also important to note that the Front Man is the brother of Detective Jun-ho, who investigates the games after discovering his brother’s role.
Additionally, in Season 1, we find out that Oh Il-nam created the Squid Game. This fact, along with their shared milk intolerance and the Front Man’s presence at Oh Il-nam’s death, supports the fan theory. It suggests that Oh Il-nam, after winning the games in 2015, revealed he was In-ho’s father and encouraged him to take on the role of the Front Man. The idea is that Oh Il-nam, using his wealth, might have taken advantage of In-ho’s struggles, like losing his wife and job, to recruit him.

However, there are also arguments against this theory. In-ho might feel bitter towards his father for not helping him during tough times. Plus, we don’t know much about their family history, which leaves room for other explanations, like the possibility of adoption.
That means their milk connection could just be a coincidence. The idea that Oh Il-nam manipulated In-ho is still possible, suggesting a complicated relationship between them that hasn’t been fully explained yet. Whether this theory is confirmed will depend on what happens in Squid Game Season 3.
