Julia Garner Gives More Details On Silver Surfer

Julia Garner will play the Silver Surfer in Marvel Studios’ upcoming movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This will be her first role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Garner has expressed her excitement about the role and appreciates the talented cast and director. She mentioned that the casting process was extensive, emphasizing how important it is to connect with a character before taking on a role. This is the first time Marvel has approached her for a part in the MCU.

According to Garner, “I’m assuming that this Silver Surfer is gonna be really shiny like in the other previous ones and the comic books. So, yeah, that’s all I’m gonna say… I mean, just how big it is. It’s a big universe, and I feel so grateful I get to be a little part of it to be honest. Everybody on that job, I think the casting is phenomenal and they’re so wonderful. And [director] Matt Shakman is amazing. I’m very excited.”

The film is set to be released on July 25, 2025. Directed by Matt Shakman, the film won’t start with the origin story but will jump right into the action after the Fantastic Four have already gained their powers. The movie will have a retro-futuristic vibe inspired by the 1960s, which is a change from previous versions.

The cast includes Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus. Garner’s casting has sparked some conversation, but it aligns with the idea of a female Silver Surfer found in the comics. Her character is meant to appear just once before Norin Radd, the original Silver Surfer, is introduced.
