It’s Been Too Long Since Daredevil’s Last Trailer

The upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again, is creating a lot of buzz but also setting a frustrating record within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first trailer for the series hasn’t been released, making it the longest we’ve waited for a trailer compared to its premiere date.

There are just 56 days between the anticipated March 4 premiere and the still-unreleased trailer, breaking the previous record set by Loki Season 2, which had a gap of 66 days. Other MCU Disney+ series have usually had their trailers released much earlier. Shows like WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Loki Season 2, Echo, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos all had their trailers dropped well in advance of their premieres.

This delay for Daredevil: Born Again has led to fan discussions and speculation. Although there hasn’t been a trailer yet, some footage from Daredevil: Born Again was shown in a promotional video for Disney+, giving fans a sneak peek. Also, some people who attended Disney presentations got an exclusive look, revealing that seven characters from the Netflix series will return.

While the late trailer release is notable for live-action shows, it’s not as unusual as Marvel’s animated shows, where trailers have often been released about a month before the show airs. Typically, there’s a two-to-three-month gap between a trailer’s release and the show’s premiere for MCU Disney+ live-action series, so the delay for Daredevil: Born Again is significant.

Speculation about when the trailer might drop includes hopes for next week or during the Super Bowl in early February. However, Marvel hasn’t used the Super Bowl for releasing Disney+ series trailers before, usually opting for sizzle reels instead, and with other major releases like The Fantastic Four and Captain America: Brave New World coming up, it seems less likely they’ll debut the trailer then.

The recent trailers for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and What If…? Season 3 suggest that Marvel might be focusing on those projects instead, delaying Daredevil: Born Again‘s trailer to avoid sharing the spotlight. Interestingly, Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, will also appear in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which could be a way to build excitement for the upcoming series.
