More Captain America Details Have Been Revealed

Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released on February 14, 2025, and it’s creating a lot of excitement even before it comes out. Much of the buzz comes from details shared behind the scenes. The film has a large writing team with six writers: Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Rob Edwards are credited with the story, while Julius Onah, Peter Glanz, and Matt Orton wrote the screenplay.

This is the highest number of writers for any Marvel Cinematic Universe film so far, though it’s not the first time it’s happened. Other Marvel films like Spider-Man: Homecoming also had multiple writers, so this doesn’t necessarily mean there are production issues.

Even with so many writers, some fans have concerns. The movie has faced challenges, including controversies over casting and a lot of reshoots, which even led to a change in the film’s title. On the bright side, early ticket sales are looking good, outpacing those of recent Marvel films that didn’t perform well.

Director Julius Onah, who also helped write the film, mentioned in interviews that Red Hulk, played by Harrison Ford, will have an important role. He teased that there will be a post-credits scene but didn’t share any details. There’s also a new IMAX featurette out that shows some behind-the-scenes footage.

Onah said, “It’s surreal, it’s incredible, it’s exciting. I’ve gotta tell you, when Red Hulk first became a possibility in this film, I just smiled. I was smiling like a kid. That was when I knew this was the idea and the right moment to put him out there in the world. Having an actor like Harrison Ford play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross knowing that he’s going to have scenes with Anthony Mackie… The Hulk character is such this expression of id but there’s something about, especially a rage Hulk, that is so relatable and exciting for the audience.”

The story follows Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, who is now Captain America and faces an international crisis after meeting with President Thaddeus Ross, also played by Harrison Ford. Wilson has to uncover a global conspiracy before it leads to disastrous outcomes.

The cast includes Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford. The film is produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore, with Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth as executive producers.

A key part of the story introduces a new Falcon. After Sam Wilson steps down from being Falcon, Joaquin Torres, played by Danny Ramirez, will take on the role. In the comics, Torres gets his powers from the Serpent Society, which gives him enhanced abilities and wings. While the MCU might change his backstory, the film hints that he could be connected to the Leader, played by Tim Blake Nelson.

The Leader’s return could explain how Thunderbolt Ross becomes Red Hulk and might also affect how Torres becomes Falcon. The marketing for the film suggests that Torres’ storyline will play a major role in the broader narrative and lead to him joining the Avengers.
