There have been some recent rumors and updates about casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One report says that Uma Thurman, famous for her roles in Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction, has talked with Marvel about a possible role. They haven’t revealed which character she might play, but it could be for future projects like Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, or the Mutant Saga. However, just because actors meet with studios doesn’t mean they’ll get cast.
Additionally, Marvel is still looking for a new T’Challa/Black Panther. There were rumors regarding Damson Idris, who joked about turning down the role, but sources say he was never really in the running. It looks like Marvel wants to cast a younger actor, possibly for the character of Toussaint, T’Challa’s son, who was introduced in Wakanda Forever. They likely want to honor the late Chadwick Boseman and the challenges of finding someone to fill such an iconic role.

Thurman once said, “I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to work on these movies, bro. When I got asked to do the first one, it was like a moving train. I thank God every day that I was able to jump on it and meet these people, these actors, and to meet Chadwick during some of the last years of his life. I’ll do it as long as folks will have me. But I think it’s bigger than just me or Joe. Between the first and second movie, we made $2 billion at the box office, which is what matters the most to corporations. So I hope that it continues, man. I hope people are still making movies about Wakanda long after we’re gone.”
When it comes to casting T’Challa, it seems that Marvel is being very respectful of Boseman’s legacy. There are also reports about other actors who have declined the role, likely because they feel it would be tough to replace Boseman. The new T’Challa is expected to first appear in one of the upcoming Avengers films and then have a bigger role in Black Panther 3. Ryan Coogler, the director of the Black Panther films, wants to keep working on the series.
In addition, Marvel Animation is working on a new CGI animated series for the MCU. This project will have a similar style to What If…? and Eyes of Wakanda, and production is already in progress. However, specific details about the plot and characters haven’t been released yet. This new animated series will broaden the types of stories the MCU tells. Fans and critics will be watching closely to see how these casting decisions and the animated series will affect the future of the MCU, especially regarding the new Black Panther.
