Marvel Studios is thinking about casting Ayo Edebiri as Storm in the new X-Men reboot. Edebiri is known for her roles in The Bear and Abbott Elementary. She was originally set to appear in “Thunderbolts” but had to drop out because of scheduling issues. This rumor comes from MyTimeToShineH, an industry insider known for sharing news about Marvel.
The release date and more details about the X-Men reboot haven’t been announced yet. However, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has said they plan to bring X-Men characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), hinting that the reboot is a big part of their future. Feige mentioned that the Mutant Saga will come after Avengers: Secret Wars, starting a new chapter for mutants in the MCU.
Other actors have also been rumored for X-Men roles, like Sadie Sink as Jean Grey and Cynthia Erivo and DeWanda Wise as Storm. However, older actors are less likely to be cast due to the typical age range of the characters, making Edebiri (who is 29) a better fit.

The talk about Edebiri follows Marvel getting the X-Men film rights and a desire to move away from previous films that weren’t big successes, such as Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants. The popularity of the animated series X-Men ’97 might also affect casting decisions for the live-action reboot, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed.
The screenplay for the X-Men reboot is being written by Michael Lesslie. While there are many rumors about the cast and when filming will start, Marvel Studios hasn’t made any official announcements, making it hard to know when the movie will actually be released.
Additionally, there are changes happening with other MCU projects. The same insider who mentioned Edebiri’s potential casting also said that Sam Raimi will not direct Doctor Strange 3, a statement backed up by recent comments from Benedict Cumberbatch. These interconnected reports show how fluid and often uncertain news about the MCU can be. Until Marvel Studios makes official statements, most information about the X-Men reboot and other MCU projects should be seen as speculation. The lack of solid details leaves a lot of room for discussion about casting and where the Mutant Saga is headed.
