Padme Was Cut From Kenobi Before Release

Industry insider Jeff Sneider shared that Natalie Portman filmed some scenes for the Disney+ series Kenobi while she was also working on Thor: Love and Thunder. However, those scenes ended up being cut from the show.

The timing allowed her to work on both projects, with Kenobi releasing in May 2022 and Thor: Love and Thunder following in July 2022. Sneider noted that Portman’s role in Kenobi” was small, but he is unsure about reports of her appearing in the second season of Ahsoka.

It’s interesting that Portman was involved in Kenobi, especially since she previously said that no one had contacted her about returning as Padmé Amidala. She indicated that she would be open to coming back to the Star Wars universe, but her participation in Kenobi was kept a secret. Lucasfilm hasn’t explained why her scenes were removed.

Including Padmé Amidala in Kenobi would have been tricky due to her death in Revenge of the Sith, which would have required flashbacks. However, Ahsoka season 2 might be a better fit for her character, considering Ahsoka Tano’s previous relationship with Padmé and the established concept of the World Between Worlds in Star Wars. It’s unclear whether they would use the footage that was already filmed or shoot new scenes. There’s also no confirmation about Portman managing to film for both Star Wars and Marvel projects, like a potential Avengers movie.

The mixed reports about Portman’s possible future in the Star Wars franchise highlight the confusion surrounding the project. Sneider mentioned that his source was uncertain about the validity of future appearances, revealing the speculative nature of ongoing rumors regarding Ahsoka season 2. While there is a lot of speculation, Lucasfilm has not officially confirmed Portman’s involvement in any upcoming Star Wars project, and there is no release date announced for Ahsoka season 2 yet.
