The LARP scene in Hawkeye is a memorable one, to be sure, and a moment that a lot of folks were buzzing about after seeing it. But what many might not know is that there’s a funny story behind how it came to be.
Speaking to EW, leading man Jeremy Renner revealed that it was based on his experiences of going to conventions and interacting with fans.
“Based on my personal experience at comic cons and these kinds of environments, it’s just me sort of saying ‘hey man, I love the fans,'” he said.

Continuing on, he explained:
“If Clint Barton was going around play-fighting with a bunch of people at Comic-Con, I figure they’d get a big kick out of that. I thought it was a cool way to show a sense of humility and bring a different kind of humor to the show.”
It certainly did bring some humor to Hawkeye and it’s nice to know that the moment was inspired by the people who made the show possible in the first place.
