After Gina Carano was fired from The Mandalorian, it looked pretty likely that the planned Rangers of the New Republic show would be headed out the door with her, too. And now, it seems that’s indeed the case.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has said that the project is currently on hold and the story that was set to be told in it will probably now factor into the aforementioned Disney Plus series instead.
“We’d never written any scripts or anything on that,” she said. “Some of that will figure into future episodes, I’m sure, of the next iteration of Mandalorian.”
Makes sense, and really, no one expects them to move forward with Rangers of the New Republic now that Carano’s Cara Dune is gone. Plus, we’ve got enough Star Wars series coming down the pipeline as it is, so this shouldn’t hurt too much in the long run.
