Let’s get one thing straight, Gods of Egypt was a disaster on every level. But you wouldn’t know that from its ranking on the HBO Max most-watched movies chart.
Currently, the blockbuster sits at #12, a very strong showing for a film that was savaged by critics and bombed at the box office. Indeed, the fantasy actioner lost the studio $90 million and even earned five nominations at the 37th Golden Raspberry Awards.
But again, that’s not deterring HBO Max users, who are probably diving in for the star-studded cast led by Gerard Butler and Chadwick Boseman and effects-heavy action scenes. Unfortunately, however, what they’re likely to find is a rather ridiculous film that quickly became a laughing stock upon release.
