An Absurd Willem Dafoe Movie Is Propelling Up The Netflix Charts

An absurd and pretty terrible Willem Dafoe movie is seeing a lot of love on Netflix today, rocketing up the charts.

Willem Dafoe Thumb

Willem Dafoe is a great actor and is set to have a huge month with Spider-Man: No Way Home quickly approaching, but he’s certainly made a couple of stinkers in his career and one of them is now exploding in popularity on Netflix.

According to FlixPatrol’s latest stats, xXx: State of the Union has jumped a whopping 38 places since yesterday to wind up as the 36th most-watched movie on the platform worldwide. And while the xXx films in general are far from well-made slices of cinema, this one is particularly bad.

Franchise star Vin Diesel wasn’t involved in this effort and with a 17% score on Rotten Tomatoes and only $71.1 million at the box office, it’s clear that this action sequel didn’t find much love upon its release. Willem Dafoe, who played General George Deckert in the pic, is entertaining as always, but the absurd and implausible plot coupled with lots of expository dialogue makes this one a tough watch. Though you wouldn’t know that from looking at the Netflix charts today.
