Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn has come under fire online this week for killing a real-life pig for his new Netflix series, which is currently untitled.

According to a press release from PETA, which was sent to the streamer’s co-CEO Reed Hastings, a pig was shot and killed during the production and they’re now asking that the scene it was for be removed from the show. Apparently, police are investigating the incident and you can read PETA’s full statement below:

Killing a sentient being and exploiting that death for the sake of entertainment is unacceptable and may be illegal. No animal should suffer or die for human entertainment, and PETA is calling on Netflix to leave on the cutting room floor any footage that might glorify this pig’s needless, senseless slaughter.

No word yet on what Netflix will do, but we’ll let you know as soon as we learn more.
