Succession finished off Season 3 last night with a wild finale, dropping a couple of major twists and a betrayal that few could’ve seen coming.
Indeed, just as the Roy siblings thought they were going to get one up on their father, they found themselves betrayed and now possibly on their way out of the family company. And it was Tom Wambsgan, who decided he’d had enough of being treated poorly, who stabbed them in the back.
It was a shocking move, but actor Matthew Macfadyen says it makes sense for the character, explaining:
“Yes, it made sense to me. It’s an accumulation; it’s a pivot by a thousand cuts. From the very beginning, he’s had to take a lot. She speaks of an open marriage on their wedding night; it hasn’t been an easy ride for Tom, he’s had to take a lot of shit from the brothers and from his father-in-law and everybody. And then there’s the real terror of potential jail time. I think something flipped. But when I read the last episode, I was like, ‘This makes sense,’” he said.
Succession Season 4 doesn’t have a confirmed premiere date yet, but expect it in late 2022.
