The first reviews for The Matrix Resurrections have arrived and while it’s not receiving critical acclaim across the board, it looks like the film will still turn out to be a worthy entry into the franchise.
Jack Shepherd of Total Film says:
Resurrections succeeds where other reboots have failed: breaking from the familiar to tell a story both timely and timeless.
Meanwhile, Mae Abdulbakl of ScreenRant states:
While it’s heavily nostalgic, The Matrix Resurrections does have something to say about living in the past and the difficulties of moving forward.
Elsewhere, EJ Moreno of Flickering Myth writes:
Not only is this the best Matrix sequel, but it’s also the most fun entry yet. There’s romance, plenty of laughs, but it never forgets to have very real conversations.

Over at Mama’s Geeky, Tessa Smith says:
This movie knows what it is, and it dives in headfirst, without a care in the world.
Ian Sandwell of Digital Spy, meanwhile, offers that:
It might end up being a mixed bag, but it’s still a unique mixed bag of ideas and creative expression that you can never accuse of being dull.
And Sean Mulvlhill at FanboyNation states:
This isn’t a retcon. This isn’t “for the fans.” This is a bold, daring piece of blockbuster filmmaking.
The Matrix Resurrections hits theaters and HBO Max tomorrow, December 22nd.
