One of the many talking points coming out of the Hawkeye finale was Kingpin and his choice of wardrobe.
Yes, the red and white Hawaiian print shirt he’s got on has been the topic of much discussion. But what a lot of fans don’t realize is that it’s actually a sneaky nod to Spider-Man. Specifically, it’s inspired by the villain’s outfit in Spider-Man: Family Business, a 2014 comic book story.
While the plot is obviously different to what we saw in Hawkeye – though it does involve him having lost a lot of his power in NYC – it features the same clothing choice and below, you can take a look for yourself at how it appeared in the comics compared to how it appeared on screen.

What’s also interesting is that this outfit was suggested by Vincent D’Onofrio, with the actor revealing:
“I may have told you this before, but the screensaver on my computer is that Family Business cover of him in that shirt. It has been for several years. And yeah, that is something that I brought to the table for Hawkeye”
Hawkeye is now streaming on Disney Plus.
