The Book of Boba Fett has been full of surprises so far.
From a cameo from a fan favorite character to director Robert Rodriguez sneaking himself into a scene, there’s been a lot to uncover. But it turns out that there was also a Phantom Menace Easter Egg which you may’ve missed.
As you can see below, early in the episode, some droids help Boba into his armor and fans might realize that they’re pretty similar to the pit droids seen in the aforementioned film. You know, the ones who repair vehicles during podraces.

What’s interesting is here is what their appearance suggests, with Looper explaining:
The droids’ inclusion suggests that as Mos Espa’s podracing enterprise disappeared, the criminals that swept in to fill the vacuum found ways to repurpose the outdated tech they found lying around. It all makes a certain kind of grim sense, and only adds to the rich, lived-in feel of the world that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are building with these Disney+ series.
The Book of Boba Fett continues with a new episode next week on Disney Plus.
