A Disastrous Keanu Reeves Movie Is Soaring On Netflix

A disastrous Keanu Reeves movie has taken flight on Netflix this week, soaring up the charts as it brings in viewers.

Keanu Reeves is one of the most beloved actors around, but not everything he stars in performs well.

Case in point: 47 Ronin. The big budget fantasy epic presented a “fictionalized account of the forty-seven rōnin, a real-life group of masterless samurai under daimyō Asano Naganori in 18th-century Japan who avenged Naganori’s death by confronting his rival Kira Yoshinaka.” And while it brought us some solid visuals and action sequences, it was a complete disaster financially.

In fact, Variety labelled it as one of “Hollywood’s biggest box office bombs of 2013.” Critics weren’t too kind to it, either, awarding it a 16% on Rotten Tomatoes. And that’s without even mentioning all of the behind the scenes issues, with director Carl Rinsch being pulled from the project during the editing stages.

Suffice it to say, 47 Ronin didn’t go how the studio thought it would, but at least it’s finding some new life over on Netflix this week, soaring up the charts to wind up as the 63rd most-watched film on the platform. And given Keanu Reeves‘ starring role, it may even climb a bit higher.
