Benedict Cumberbatch had a couple of movies release last year that sort of flew under the radar. One of which was The Mauritanian.
The drama follows a man named Mohamedou Ould Slahi, who “fights for freedom after being detained and imprisoned without charge by the U.S. Government for years.” With a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film found much favor with critics but unfortunately, didn’t make too big of an impact at the box office, like due to the pandemic.
But now that it’s on Netflix, it’s finally being seen. In fact, at the time of writing, The Mauritanian is the 64th most-watched movie on the platform worldwide. And after having jumped up 7 spots since yesterday, it looks like this Benedict Cumberbatch effort is really about to take off.
