The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5 was a hugely exciting outing as it switched things up by shifting the focus to Mando, with the title character not even showing up once. As such, the latest chapter of the series went a long way to setting things up for The Mandalorian Season 3 and even tied up a plot hole from Season 2.

If you recall, in the finale we saw Din Djarin beat Moff Gideon in combat and was able to take possession of the Darksaber from him. He tries to give it to Bo-Katan Kryze, but Moff tells him that:

“It must be won in battle. In order for her to wield the Darksaber again, she would need to defeat you in combat…The Darksaber doesn’t have power. The story does. Without that blade, she’s a pretender to the throne.”

However, in Star Wars Rebels, Bo-Katan is gifted the Darksaber by Sabine Wren, which left fans wondering why she could accept it from Sabine but not Mando. But at long last, The Book of Boba Fett has brought us the answer to that and to find out why the rules were different in each instance, you can continue reading below.
