Here’s some surprising news.
The replicants are headed to streaming as Amazon Studios has ordered up a live-action sequel series to Blade Runner 2049 titled Blade Runner 2099. Ridley Scott will executive produce, with Silka Luisa, showrunner of Starz’s upcoming Shining Girls, writing and also exec producing.
No cast has been announced just yet, and plot details are non-existent, but it’s apparently being fast-tracked and Scott may even direct the show, which would be great to see. Unfortunately, that’s all we know about this Blade Runner 2049 follow-up so far, but as always, keep an eye on this space for more.
