Tom Hardy‘s one of the finest actors of his generation, but unfortunately, many of his earlier efforts have flown a bit under the radar.
One of these is Warrior, the MMA pic that only brought in about $23 million in cinemas. It’s a solid sports movie, though, and well worth a watch for Hardy’s performance alone. Co-starring Joel Edgerton, it sees the Venom star playing the “youngest son of an alcoholic former boxer who returns home, where he’s trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament – a path that puts the fighter on a collision course with his estranged, older brother (Edgerton).”
It may not be his best work, but Warrior is a terrific film that many probably never caught. But over on Netflix, it’s beginning to stage a comeback, as it currently sits as the 8th most-watched movie in the US. And no doubt tons of subscribers are just discovering this hidden gem for the first time.
