Seventh Son is not a very good movie.
The fantasy adventure is loosely based on the 2004 novel The Spook’s Apprentice and follows Thomas Ward, a “seventh son of a seventh son, and his adventures as the apprentice of the Spook.” With a 12% on Rotten Tomatoes, not even a solid cast including Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore could save this dull, disappointing ride.
But every once in a while, Seventh Son takes off over on Netflix and today, it’s doing so again. In fact, it’s currently the 10th most-watched movie on the platform worldwide. Why it often finds itself drawing in tons of viewers on the streaming service, we don’t know, but this forgotten fantasy flop continues to defy the odds even 8 years after its release.
