Charlie Cox Thumb

Marvel Studios has finally released the first official trailer for Daredevil: Born Again, a new series set to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. The trailer features Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, both of whom are returning from the original Netflix series.

The new series will have 18 episodes and take place five years after the events of the Netflix show. As shown in the trailer, along with Cox and D’Onofrio, familiar faces from the original series will be back, including Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson. New cast members include Margarita Levieva, Ayelet Zurer, and Michael Gandolfini.

The series will explore a new relationship between Murdock and Fisk, with Fisk now running for Mayor of New York City. The trailer shows both exciting action scenes and dramatic moments, indicating it will continue the darker tone of the Netflix series. While it includes some previously leaked footage, it also features new scenes and different costume designs for Daredevil.

The story will focus on the clash between Murdock’s work as a lawyer, his vigilante actions, and Fisk’s political goals. The tension between their pasts and current roles will drive the plot. Dario Scardapane is the showrunner for Daredevil: Born Again, and the directing team includes Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd. The executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Sana Amanat, Chris Gary, Christopher Ord, Matthew Corman, and Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead. The series is rated TV-MA.

Initially, the show was meant to have a stronger focus on legal drama. Still, after discussions with Cox and D’Onofrio, it shifted to keep the darker and more intense elements from the original Netflix series. Along with the trailer, Marvel released promotional artwork featuring Cox and D’Onofrio, hinting at significant changes for the characters compared to the Netflix series.

Murdock seems to have stepped away from his vigilante activities for now, while Fisk has risen to a high political position. The series acts as a sequel to the Netflix show and a way to bring these street-level characters into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. All three seasons of the original Daredevil series and The Defenders are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
