Ms. Marvel is drawing closer and will introduce a new hero into the MCU, but when she arrives, she won’t be exactly as how we remember her from the comic books.

Yes, as you may’ve seen on social media, a lot of fans have already taken issue with the titular heroine’s powers and the changes Marvel is making to them. But according to producer Kevin Feige, their projects are never “exact translations” of the source material, so it shouldn’t be an issue.

“We adapt the comics; it’s not an exact translation. [Kamala] came about in a very specific time within the comic-book continuity. She is now coming into a very specific time within the MCU continuity. And those two things didn’t match,” he explained.

“What we will learn about where those powers come from, and how they come about, is specific to the MCU. You will see great comic splash panels in some of our action sequences. If you want big, giant hands and arms, well they’re here in spirit, if not in stretchy, plastic-type ways.”

Ms. Marvel hits Disney Plus on June 8th.
