The MCU Already Has A Batman Clone, And It’s Not Moon Knight

An easily overlooked Easter Egg from Daredevil reminds us that the MCU already has a Batman clone, and it’s not Moon Knight.

Moon Knight Thumb

Moon Knight will be here at the end of the month and will bring a Batman clone of sorts into the MCU, but what a lot of people don’t realize is that Oscar Isaac’s hero won’t be the first clone of the Dark Knight that the franchise has seen.

Indeed, an Easter Egg from Daredevil Season 2 already told us that there’s a character who’s quite similar to the Caped Crusader running around in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that’s Kyle Richmond’s Nighthawk. As ScreenRant reminds us:

A clear reference to the hero was made when Owlsley insisted that “Richmond” be on the guestlist for Kingpin’s gala, which included a number of distinguished millionaires and important figures in New York City. According to him, Richmond wouldn’t show up, but he would be mad if he didn’t at least receive an invitation.

Owlsley’s comment perfectly represented the public persona of Nighthawk. In his civilian life, Richmond was a rich playboy who often attended these sorts of functions in New York City on a regular basis. He also used his financial resources to support his superhero lifestyle as Nighthawk and the operations of the Defenders.

Of course, this Easter Egg may never materialize into anything more than just that, but Nighthawk is definitely a character we’d love to see show up in a future MCU movie or TV series. And who knows, we may even get to watch him cross paths with Moon Knight if that happens.
