A comic book movie that created a bit of controversy back when it released is now finding new life on streaming.
The film in question is Kick-Ass 2, which sits as the 17th most-watched pic on HBO Max worldwide. Aside from it being not very good, it also found itself steeped in controversy when star Jim Carrey publicly withdrew his support for it due to how violent it was. At the time, he said:
“I did Kick-Ass a month before Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to others involved with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”
Obviously, that didn’t do Kick-Ass 2 any favors and it went down as a dud on all counts. But now, for some reason, it’s finding a new audience over on HBO Max and with a reboot currently in development, it may be a good time to revisit it if you haven’t done so in a while.
