Michael Keaton is returning as Batman in not 1 but 2 films. And perhaps more than that if recent rumors are to be believed.
But why did he leave the role in the first place? And what made him want to come back? Well, The Hollywood Reporter recently asked him about exactly that and he explained the following:
“It was a job,” Keaton said of the 1989 film. “And then the next one was a job, and I enjoyed it. But then over time — and then the third one, I just couldn’t do. I just thought, ‘Well, this is not good. This is not good. I just can’t do it. I’ll blow my brains out. Just can’t live with myself.’ And so I walked away.”

On why he decided to return, the actor said:
“It has to be good. There’s no reason to do it if it’s not good. It’s not gonna really change anything. And I just jumped in and had fun. And why would you not? You know, I mean, director Andy Muschietti is fantastic, and it’s really creative. I don’t know. It’s fun.”
You can catch Michael Keaton back in the Batsuit in The Flash on November 4th, before he returns once more as Batman in Batgirl, which is still without a firm release date.
