The second season of the HBO show The Last of Us is set to start in April. Neil Druckmann, the head of Naughty Dog, shared this news at the Consumer Electronics Show. The new season will only be available on HBO and the streaming service Max. It will have seven episodes, and the premiere is expected to be around mid-April, similar to when Game of Thrones was released.
Season two will start five years after the first season ended. In the first season’s finale, Joel saved Ellie from the Fireflies and lied about a cure being impossible, saying the facility had been attacked. The new season will show the troubled relationship between Joel and Ellie, as it’s hinted that Ellie knows about the lie. The story will continue to follow the events from The Last of Us Part II video game. Although it was thought that this part of the story would take several seasons to tell, it’s still unclear how much of the plot will be included in the upcoming season.

Sony Pictures Television and HBO are responsible for making the series. The next part of the story will dive into themes about conflict and relationships set in a post-apocalyptic world.
