Jeremy Renner is now one of the biggest stars in Hollywood thanks to his role as Hawkeye in the MCU. But it was actually a completely different type of role that first threw him into the mainstream and made the industry sit up and take notice.
The 2008 war thriller The Hurt Locker found Renner playing Sergeant First Class William James, “the new team leader of a U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit in the Iraq War.” Critically acclaimed and an awards season favorite, it’s still one of the actor’s best films and one of the genre’s best films, too. And now, it’s finding new life on streaming.
Over on HBO Max, The Hurt Locker has exploded up the charts, jumping up 18 spots to land at #32 on the most-watched movies worldwide list. And no doubt every single person flocking to the pic is thoroughly enjoying this terrific Jeremy Renner effort.
