2 movies that both courted controversy for different reasons are blowing up on Netflix today.
The first is Baby Driver, which was critically acclaimed at the time and widely loved, but is now seen as a bit controversial given that both Kevin Spacey and Ansel Elgort have starring roles. The former, of course, has pretty much been exiled from Hollywood, while the latter is still making movies but certainly doesn’t have too many fans anymore after some of the recent allegations that’ve been flung at him. That’s not to say that Baby Driver isn’t a terrific film, because it is, but nowadays, there are many people who won’t support it.
The second flick, meanwhile, is Nymphomaniac: Vol. I, which also scored solid reviews but was controversial for its graphic sexual content that stirred up a storm amongst some audiences. Again, it’s not a bad movie by any means, but it did land in theaters with a fair amount of controversy behind it.
But nevertheless, both films are now finding new life on Netflix, with Baby Driver currently the 53rd most-watched movie worldwide and Nymphomaniac: Vol. I on the same list at 38th.
