A Disappointing Franchise Starter Is Getting Another Shot At Success On Netflix

A disappointing franchise starter is now getting another chance at success over on Netflix, with tons of people checking it out.

Hopes were high for Bloodshot ahead of its release, and understandably so.

The action blockbuster was based on the Valiant Comics character of the same name and starred proven box office draw Vin Diesel in the lead role. It was also intended to be the first effort in a new cinematic universe based on the aforementioned comics.

Following “a soldier who was killed in action, only to be brought back to life with superpowers by an organization that wants to use him as a weapon,” it unfortunately turned out to be a major bomb. Of course, some of that might’ve been due to it releasing at the height of the pandemic, but poor reviews and a quick exit out of theaters and onto streaming meant that it sank without a trace.

Admittedly, Diesel has said that a sequel is still moving forward, but given everything we just mentioned above, we remain skeptical. Time will tell what ultimately happens, then, but at the very least, the studio must be happy to see Bloodshot performing so well over on Netflix, where it currently sits as 47th most-watched film, after jumping up a whopping 48 spots.
