Jamie Foxx is in the spotlight this week thanks to his return as Electro in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but one of his less acclaimed efforts is also generating some buzz over on Netflix.
The film in question is Sleepless and if you’ve never heard of it, we don’t blame you. The 2017 crime drama only grossed about $33 million on a $30 million budget and was trashed by critics, who called it a “tired [movies] whose clichés rapidly outnumber its thrills.”
It sees Foxx playing a “police officer who faces off against mobsters who have kidnapped his son,” and doesn’t do anything you wouldn’t expect it to. It’s as paint by numbers as they come, but Netflix users clearly don’t mind, as this forgotten Jamie Foxx effort is now sitting at #29 on the worldwide most-watched list.
