A disturbing and dark superhero movie is making waves on Netflix this week, soaring up the most-watched charts and pulling in some big numbers.
The film in question is Brightburn, a horror-tinged take on the genre from director David Yarovesky and produced by James Gunn. Plot-wise, it follows Brandon Breyer, “a young boy of extraterrestrial origin reared on Earth who realizes he has superpowers. Upon learning of them and being activated by his spaceship, Brandon rejects his humanity and turns to evil, opting to terrorize his hometown, including his parents.”
With an intriguing premise that brings a fresh flavor to superhero movies, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable watch. And Netflix users seemingly agree, as it’s currently the 14th most-watched film worldwide on the platform, which isn’t a bad showing at all for a title that hasn’t been talked about too much since its release.
