As you may’ve seen, 2 Johnny Depp movies dropped onto Netflix to kick off the new year and one of them is a bit unnecessary.
We’re talking, of course, about Dark Shadows. The 2012 remake directed by Tim Burton was loaded with star power in front of and behind the camera but was savaged by critics upon its release. While the original TV show that it was based on is widely loved, reviewers found this remake to be “complicated,” “pointless,” “dire” and “never interesting.”
But that hasn’t stopped Netflix users from giving it a shot, as Dark Shadows is now the 6th most-watched film in the US, having jumped up 4 spots since yesterday. And while its recent arrival on the platform is probably contributing to this, it’s still interesting to see the movie getting another chance in the spotlight.
