Michael Keaton has been on something of a hot streak ever since Birdman, but that’s not to say that everything he’s done has been a hit.
Take The Protege for example. Co-starring Samuel L. Jackson and Maggie Q, the action thriller sunk without a trace shortly after hitting theaters back in the summer. And while there was nothing particularly wrong with it, there also wasn’t anything particularly special about it.
Indeed, The Protege is pretty run of the mill as far as assassin action flicks go, and follows a contract killer out for revenge after her mentor is brutally killed. It hits all the beats you’d expect it to, but it seems that it’s captured the attention of a fair amount of Netflix users this week, as it currently sits as the 77th most-watched film worldwide on the platform. And while it’s far from Michael Keaton‘s best work, you could also do a lot worse than kill a couple hours with this one.
