Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope in Bridgerton, has revealed that shooting the fight scene with her on-and off-screen best friend Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton) was a “really harrowing” experience for her.
“Friendship breakups are just so horrendous,” she said. “To film that scene was really harrowing and actually like, made me feel sick to my stomach.”
The actress also admitted that she was “super nervous” to shoot it and both her and Jessie were “really crying” while acting it out. And it seems to have worked out well that they were so emotional, as the scene itself was executed perfectly and no doubt had a lot of viewers feeling all sorts of emotions, too.
Whether or not the two girls can reconcile in Bridgerton Season 3 remains to be seen, of course, but we’re certainly hoping that they’ll patch things up.
