If you’ve seen The Unforgivable on Netflix – and considering it’s the #1 film on the platform today, you probably have – you may be wondering if it’s based on a true story. And while it isn’t and it’s instead a fictionalized tale, written by Christopher McQuarrie and Scott Frank, it is inspired by a 2009 British miniseries called Unforgiven.
Written by Sally Wainwright and directed by David Evans, it consisted of 3 episodes and starred British actress Suranne Jones as a young woman who’s “released from prison after 15 or 16 years time served for murdering two police officers. And all she wants now is to find her younger sister.”
So, pretty similar to The Unforgivable then. But in both cases, the stories are purely fictional.
