Jeremy Renner is a certified A-lister now thanks to his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But it was actually a totally different part that thrust him into the spotlight and made Hollywood sit up and take notice of the talented actor.
2008 war thriller The Hurt Locker had Renner playing Sergeant First Class William James, “the new team leader of a U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit in the Iraq War.” Critically acclaimed and winner of many, many awards, it’s still one of the actor’s best efforts and today, it’s finding a lot of love over on Netflix.
Currently, it’s the 10th most-watched flick on the platform in the US. Why it’s seeing this sudden surge in popularity, we can’t say, but no doubt subscribers are thoroughly enjoying what still holds up as an excellent war movie featuring a standout performance from Jeremy Renner.
