While Tom Holland is most well known these days for his role as Spider-Man, the movie that first put him on the map isn’t related to Marvel or the MCU in any way.
Instead, he first gained recognition in The Impossible, the 2012 effort based on “the experience of María Belón and her family in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.” It’s a compelling, highly emotional watch, with fantastic performances from both Holland and his co-stars Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts.
And while it’s more or less been forgotten about since its release, The Impossible is now staging a comeback over on Netflix, where it sits as the 39th most-watched movie worldwide on the platform. Exposing a whole new audience to the flick that first put Tom Holland on the map.
