Captain America 4 Cut WWE Champion’s Scenes After Extensive Reshoots

Seth Rollins, known for being a professional wrestler and actor, confirmed that his scenes were cut from the upcoming Marvel movie Captain America: Brave New World. The movie is scheduled to be released on February 14, 2025, but it has gone through major rewrites and reshoots, which led to the removal of Rollins’ role.

Initially, it was thought that he would play a character named Cobra, who is part of the Serpent Society, based on photos taken on set. During the reshoots in Atlanta, Georgia, actor Giancarlo Esposito was added to the cast as another Serpent Society member named Sidewinder. It’s unclear how big Rollins’ original role was or why it was cut, but he mentioned that his character was either changed significantly or completely removed.

He also said he auditioned for either a different part or a new version of his original role after the script was updated, but he didn’t make it into the final version of the film. Despite this, Rollins supports the movie and has expressed that he is more passionate about wrestling than acting. He noted that his wife, Becky Lynch, is doing better in acting than he is. Although Rollins’ character has been dropped, the Serpent Society will still appear in the film with Esposito and Rosa Salazar as key characters.

Rollins said, “I wish it the best, but I am not a part of that film… Truth be told, any answer I gave would only be my opinion on it. The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased. So I did do a bit of an audition to possibly pop into another role, I believe, or the repurposing of my role, I’m not exactly sure on what it was, but they ended up going in a different direction with it.”

The movie was postponed because of the strikes in Hollywood, which allowed for major changes to be made in the storyline. The plot revolves around Sam Wilson, portrayed by Anthony Mackie, as he deals with an international incident following Thaddeus Ross’s (played by Harrison Ford) election as President of the United States. Wilson needs to uncover a global conspiracy before it leads to widespread chaos.

The cast also features Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson, who is returning as the Leader. Production for the film involved many changes, affecting several characters. Because of these shifts, the original plan for the Serpent Society to participate in a major action scene, possibly alongside Falcon and Isaiah Bradley, has been changed.
