Wilson Bethel, known for playing Bullseye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently shared that he once auditioned for the role of Captain America but didn’t get it. The role ultimately went to Chris Evans, who played Captain America for eight years in several films. Bethel’s experience shows just how tough it can be to get cast in major productions like the MCU.

During his audition process for Captain America, Bethel went through multiple screen tests and even wore the iconic Captain America suit in one of them, which indicates he made a strong impression. Despite this, Chris Evans was chosen for the part. Bethel felt confident about his chances but later learned the role had gone to Evans.

Bethel said, “There were all these things that were happening that made me feel like I was getting the part. And then I remember my agent calling me one day, and they’re like, ‘No, actually, they offered it to Chris Evans’ or whatever.”

After losing out on Captain America, Bethel found success in the MCU by playing Benjamin Dex Poindexter, or Bullseye, in the Netflix series Daredevil. His performance was well-received and made him an important part of the MCU’s supporting cast. Playing Bullseye helped make Daredevil a success and solidified Bethel’s role in the franchise.

Bethel’s journey highlights how unpredictable the entertainment industry can be, as actors often face near-misses during auditions. His story about almost landing the Captain America role recently came to light at a Fan Expo event, where he shared his experiences and connected with fans. His insights into the audition process reveal the intense competition and high stakes for major roles in big franchises.

This new series is set to premiere on Disney+ in March 2025 and will also feature Charlie Cox returning as Daredevil, continuing the story from the original Netflix series.
