Joel McHale’s Scream 7 Role May Make You Mad

Scream 7 is being made right now, and it will have some familiar faces and new ones in the cast. Neve Campbell is back as Sidney Prescott, along with Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin. Jasmine Savoy Brown will also return as Mindy Meeks-Martin. New cast members include Joel McHale, Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp.

Joel McHale will play a new character named Mark Evans, who is Sidney Prescott’s husband. This is not a recast of Patrick Dempsey’s character, Detective Mark Kincaid, from Scream 3. Although earlier comments suggested Sidney married Kincaid, this film introduces a different husband, and the reason they share a first name is still unclear.

We don’t know much about the plot of Scream 7 yet, but it’s confirmed that Sidney’s daughter, played by Isabel May, will have an important role. The movie will also include a time jump to reflect the aging of Sidney’s children. Some parts of the film will likely take place outside of Woodsboro. This movie is planned to be the first part of a new trilogy.

Kevin Williamson, the writer of the original Scream, is directing this film, which is based on a script by Guy Busick. James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein are producing it for Project X Entertainment. The movie is set to be released on February 27, 2026. Scream VI made over $108 million in the U.S., contributing to the franchise’s total earnings of over $900 million worldwide.

Besides Scream 7, McHale is also working on Animal Control, The Bear, and Yellowjackets, and he will be in Community: The Movie. Neve Campbell has shared her excitement about returning as Sidney Prescott. Production of the film is currently taking place in Atlanta, and McHale’s character, along with Sidney’s daughter, are important elements for this new installment in the series.
