Mark Grayson’s Blue & Black Season 3 Invincible Costume Explained

Invincible Season 3 will see Mark Grayson wearing a new blue and black costume, which is a big change from what he wore before. The show’s producers decided to introduce this new suit in Season 3 instead of Season 2, as some fans had expected. The new costume doesn’t have any special features; it just looks different.

The suit’s darker colors represent Mark’s mood and the serious storylines that will unfold this season. Robert Kirkman, the creator of Invincible, mentioned that the costume change marks a more intense time for Mark, reflecting the struggles he faces. This change is in line with the comic books, where this time is one of Mark’s toughest.

Interestingly, the reason for the costume change in the comics was simple; the designer, Art Rosenbaum, wanted a fresh look and thought the new suit would better match Mark’s brother, Kid Omni-Man, who will be introduced in Season 3.

Kirkman said, “Going into the third season, it seemed like a good time to bring a new Mark to the forefront after everything he’s been through in Season 2. He’s in a different headspace and that gets reflected in his costume… Anyone who has read the comic book series knows the blue suit era of ‘Invincible’ is the darkest and the most intense, and there’s a lot of really big things that are around the blue suit.”

The new costume’s serious look is meant to match the darker themes of the season, not because of any special powers it has. Although the suit itself isn’t influenced by aliens or anything like that, it represents a time of significant challenges for Mark, similar to Spider-Man’s experience with his Symbiote suit. This era will see Mark face greater tragedies and moral dilemmas, including struggles with his no-kill rule.

In addition to Mark’s costume change, Season 3 will also focus more on other characters. Omni-Man will play a bigger role, Adam and Eve’s relationship will grow, and we will finally meet Kid Omni-Man. The premiere date for the season is February 6, 2025, on Amazon Prime Video, and this time, the season won’t be divided into two parts.
