The #1 movie on Netflix right now is Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and while the first wave of reviews were alright, it’s quickly plummeted on Rotten Tomatoes, where it sits at a harsh 29%. A lot of critics are tearing into it, too, with Dan Murrell saying: “It’s the same dumb movie with the same dumb characters doing the same dumb things with the same bad acting that you’ve seen a million times before.”
Elsewhere, Valerie Complex from Deadline wrote, “nothing can save this Netflix movie from caving under the weight of its irrationality,” while Keith Watson of Slant Magazine says: “The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a deeply miscalculated mix of incoherent social commentary and over-the-top gore.”
And that’s just a small sample of the negativity surrounding Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But as we’ve seen over and over again, Netflix users don’t care about reviews very much.
